I’m Dr. Katherine W. Smith. I’m a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist LMFT#115452 and you can see my education and training here.
You’re probably wondering if I’m the right therapist for you. The best way to figure that out is for us to talk. You can leave me a message at 323-943-1978 to set-up some time with me or schedule a free phone consultation.
You may also want to know if I have experience working with people like you or with a particular mental health issue. I’ve worked with many different kinds of people of all ages, diverse backgrounds and experiences, and I have experience effectively treating many different kinds of mental health issues. You might be struggling with relationships (including friendship, romance, sex, kink, etc.), feeling lonely or isolated, have trouble figuring out life goals, have difficulty staying motivated, or you might have experienced a lot of trauma. These kinds of practical problems often get diagnosed as depression, anxiety, adjustment disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), ADD or ADHD, or a personality disorder. The way I work gets to the heart of what’s holding you back and causing your frustrations and dissatisfaction.
I practice psychodynamic and psychoanalytic psychotherapy. The slower pace can sometimes feel awkward. That’s normal. It’s a slower and longer-term kind of therapy because we go deeper. We will take our time and discover the best way for us to work together.
