Mary Madrake, Psy.D – Post-Doctoral Fellow – LGBTQ+, Kink and Poly Therapist

Name of Primary Practitioner
Dr. Mary Madrake
Business Excerpt
I take a collaborative, psychodynamic approach to treatment. You know your experiences, goals, and preferences best and my job is to help support your growth and overcome obstacles. I believe that early relationships and interactions, such as those with parents and family, can set the tone for how we interact with others, even as adults. By exploring the past and how it impacts the present, we can better understand how we react to situations and respond to others. Our work can also focus on developing skills that can help you to understand yourself better, improve your relationships, and reach your goals. I have been trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, which is an evidence-based treatment for trauma. Much of my clinical and research experience is focused on working with individuals who have experienced various types of trauma, such as early neglect or abuse, domestic violence, or community violence. I strive for being cultural and diversity-aware in both my personal and professional life. I am a Kink-aware and Poly friendly therapist with experience working with teenagers and adults in the LGBTQ+ community. I am almost a Postdoctoral Resident at Balanced Awakening. Im waiting for my doctorate degree to be conferred, after completing all of the steps. I have several years of clinical experience, yet need one more year of supervised practice before I am eligible for licensure. Balanced Awakening accepts Blue Cross/Blue Shield insurance as well as self-pay.
