She uses she/her pronouns.

Meagan is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Washington State (LH60860215). Her role as a therapist is to create a safe place for you to explore your sexual and mental health challenges so that you can reconnect back to your body, and enjoy fulfilling sexual relationships with yourself and others.

Sex is a skill, and most of us have so many obstacles that get in the way of learning those skills or tapping into them, including mental health and substance use issues.

I want to help you take control of your sex life, and find the satisfaction of loving yourself whole-heartedly.
Business Description

Meagan (she/her pronouns) is a queer Woman of Color from a Puerto Rican family. She became a first-generation college graduate with a Bachelor's in Psychology from the University of Florida in 2013 and a Master's in Professional Counseling from the University of Georgia in 2016. Now, Meagan is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor supporting teenagers, couples, polycules, and individuals to create happier, more meaningful relationships.

Meagan helps clients face a wide range of mental health challenges, including PTSD, depression, anxiety, and psychosis. She also has training and experience supporting those who want to reduce their substance use, whether through a sober lifestyle or finding harm reduction strategies that work for them. As a holistic therapist, she recognizes that mental health and physical health are intertwined. Different health issues can impact one another and create obstacles to change. Meagan's role in your care is to help give you the skills to overcome those obstacles and see your possibilities.

Meagan provides a supportive, safe space for people to be who they are. Especially in the US's overwhelming environment, having a place to be vulnerable and heard is transformative. In this regard, she strives to be culturally and politically aware of race, queer, and trans issues.

Therapeutic Approach

Person-Centered Therapy is the foundation of Meagan's therapeutic style. This means she makes space for my clients to come in as they are, accepting them with empathy and unconditional positive regard. From there, she uses Relational Cultural Theory (RCT). RCT focuses on how issues of social justice and oppression shape our experiences and relationships. Meagan also incorporates Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), which gives clients practical skills for coping with distress and communication difficulties.

For adults, she specializes in sexuality and pleasure. Many of us have roadblocks that get in the way of being our best, sexually thriving selves. Our past traumas, health issues, upbringing, and self-esteem can take us out of our pleasure and leave us stuck in insecurities. Meagan helps people be more mindful and find ways to tap into our wants and needs. This includes learning how to set boundaries and communicate more effectively with our partner(s).

Meagan is also polyamory, kink, and BDSM affirming.

Personal

Meagan's self-care routine includes yoga, cooking, and talking long walks. She loves to travel and has lived in Spain for a few months and Taiwan for over a year. Her time abroad taught me what it's like to be an immigrant in an unfamiliar culture, struggling to understand an unfamiliar language. This has given her an appreciation for the immigrant experience and made her better understand her privilege as a US citizen abroad. She has two cats in the US and a foster dog and cat back in Taiwan that she loves and misses dearly.

Meagan is the host of The Sex & Podcast, a podcast that talks about how we work through our health challenges to have fulfilling sexual relationships with ourselves and others. Openly talking about (and listening to stories about), sexual health is integral to normalizing sex and pleasure.
