I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker certified as a Diplomate in Sex Therapy by the American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors & Therapists (AASECT). I served as an Adjunct Professor at the Brown School, Washington University in St. Louis, and have been a clinician for almost 40 years. Besides my clinical work, I have published several articles, a book chapter and a book on the foundational technique of mindful touch, "Sensate Focus in Sex Therapy: The Illustrated Manual".
I started Sex Therapy St Louis, LLC in 1988 after spending five years working at Masters & Johnson Institute with the researchers who invented modern sex therapy. My work is influenced by layers of learning and combines cognitive, behavioral, somatic, trauma informed and mindfulness techniques with an emphasis on the whole person(s) and an appreciation for the wide range of human relationship and sexual styles. My therapeutic style is collaborative, inquisitive, respectful, and whenever possible, amplified by humor. I am directed toward solutions and I do give homework.
I usually begin with a 45 minute Consultation session in which you identify your goals, I ask lots of clarifying questions, and then outline how I would address those goals and a likely number of sessions needed.
