I take trust very seriously. I have always been one of those people that others can confide in and know there is not a risk of anyone finding out or being judged. I am proud of that, and I understand the gravity of your vulnerability and fear of trust. I feel that it is important that my clients get an education on the therapeutic process, skill building, and accountability. Sometimes having a private emotional purge is cathartic, and I’m here to help with that.
I was an Army combat medic who completed a tour in the Bosnian War. I strive to help veterans I work with feel relief knowing that I am a battle buddy that can help them get unstuck. Like many veterans, I bring a wealth of knowledge of other cultures and life experiences.
Like many veterans and a mom, I am a late student but have come into this field with over 25 years of experiences with human services across multiple populations and settings. I have worked with people who struggle with substance use, children on the spectrum, intellectual disabilities, maternal health, families, severe and persistent mental illness, PTSD, people with trauma and abuse histories, individuals in the foster care system, individuals with anxiety, mood disorders, behavior challenges, people who self-harm, and people with anger issues. I am a cancer survivor and can relate to chronic illness. I am sex positive and kink allied.
I completed my two Bachelor’s degrees and my Masters in Counseling from Upper Iowa. I am trained in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and crisis management. My goal for you is to provide an environment where you can explore your interests, develop your goals, determine your strengths, and move toward your aspirations.
