As a formerly harsh self-critic, I know what it was like to feel badly about myself when I fell short of my goals. Through therapy, I learned to develop self-compassion while still working toward increased success – and my life profoundly changed. I finally was happy. My greatest pleasure now is showing others how they too can become happy and content as a way of life.
I have a warm, compassionate, and judgment-free approach. My style is informal, active, collaborative, and highly supportive. At the same time, I gently point out clients’ blind spots and challenge them to take the actions they need in order to grow.
My therapy helps you feel more connected to yourself – your wants, needs, values, and strengths. We’ll work through anything that’s preventing you from expressing these valuable parts of yourself. After finishing treatment, clients generally tell me they feel lighter, freer, and more positive as a result.
I won’t try to fit you into a category or theory, nor try to “fix” you. Instead of focusing on flaws, I respect the unique ways in which your mind, body, and spirit have adapted to cope with difficult past circumstances.
I believe everyone can heal and grow, so I approach therapy with optimism and hope. I welcome all adults into my practice. I’ve helped people of varied identities and relationships to gender, sexuality, ethnicity, race, class, age, size and abilities. Additionally, I have particular expertise in strategies to help people with ADHD. I’m comfortable in working with all types of relationships – straight or LGBTQ+, monogamous, open or poly – and I’m also knowledgeable about kink and asexuality.
I believe that people make the best choices from the options they see available, but they often miss seeing the right options. I blend techniques from my extensive training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Mindful Self-Compassion to guide people to see better options, and teach them concrete strategies for achieving their goals. Moreover, along with discovering new options and strategies, I’ll help you develop the confidence to take actions that will bring you happiness and fulfillment.
