As a kid, my one goal was to go to Hogwarts and become a wizard. Seriously. Other kids wanted to grow up and be astronauts, doctors, and pop stars. I wanted to grow up and live freely and fully as a wizard. I saw a lot of pain in the world, and I wanted a way to make a difference. I spent my youth reading about magic, waiting on my letter, and trying to encourage my magic to manifest. As I got older, and an owl never arrived with an acceptance letter, I realized I needed to find another way to help bring ease to people’s suffering. Becoming a licensed psychotherapist was the closest alternative I had to becoming a wizard.

My focus has been on gender, sexuality, sex, and relationships because they are everywhere: in our music, our movies, in advertisements, our daydreams, and our politics. They are sources of joy and anguish, grief and celebration, trauma and growth. Inevitably my work has expanded into aspects of social justice and oppression.

I believe you can not try and help people reach their goals without considering the context of the world we live in. I believe in a humanistic approach to therapy, focusing on free will and self-discovery. Together we will tackle whatever is holding you back from your authentic self.
