Hello! My name is Allison (Alli) Goukler, LMSW and I am a therapist with Realistic Expectations, PLLC. I work with different folks who are seeking help with addressing mental health or wellness, exploring their identities, finding peace, and seeking change in their lives. I am honored to work within the queer community as a queer individual myself, to continue to bring an affirming and friendly space to individuals that need it. I hope to assist folks in facing challenges and reaching the goals that they set for themselves, knowing that everyone is different and not all people follow the same life path at the same pace. We are not meant to walk through life physically, mentally, or emotionally isolated and without the help of others. I hope to be able to provide that help for those who need it.
I have a background in case management and counseling in the recovery and substance misuse field with specialty knowledge in opioids. Additionally, I have experience working with individuals that have been victims of crime and have experienced trauma. I have also, along with Caroline Broughton, BSc, worked on the development of the Realistic Expectations, PLLC’s ASIDE (Asexuality-Spectrum Identity Development and Education) group along with other asexuality and ace specific educational materials and presentations for both clinicians and folks in general wanting to learn more about asexuality and challenge prevailing ideas around sexuality, dysfunction, love, and identity. I have had the privilege, in working with Realistic Expectations, PLLC, to learn about the polyamourous and CNM communities and how to best support these families without judgment. Additionally, I have a kink and BDSM friendly perspective with my work. With a holistic perspective and an eclectic approach, I hope to be a resource for the community.
Whether you are struggling with depression, anxiety, stress, shame, identity, or something else, I look forward to speaking with you so that we can work together on finding the next steps forward. I hope to continue learning in the future and expanding my knowledge to various trauma specific interventions and modalities as well as expanding my understanding and awareness of the experiences of individuals of different races and ethnicities, fat empowerment, neurodiversity, chronic health conditions, expressive therapies, and gender diversity.
