I approach mental health therapy from a relational and integrated approach, meaning I believe that the connection between client and therapist is the most important factor towards feeling better, and that we design the rest of our work together tailored specifically to what you need and what works for you. I have EMDR training, and utilize strategies from parts work/IFS, emotion-focused therapy, psychodynamic therapy, dialectical-behavioral therapy, and others.
I am not a cognitive behavioral therapist, and know that many people (including myself) have had subpar experiences with CBT in therapy, though I recognize the usefulness of CBT techniques in therapy from time-to-time. If that is a hard limit for you, let me know in our first session and we'll keep cognitive-centered strategies off-limits in our work.
