I am passionate about providing quality counselling services to folks in the LGBTQIA+ and kink communities. I operate from a person-centered approach, which means that my counselling is non-directive and non-judgmental. I aim to gain a thorough understanding of my client's needs, values and challenges and work to empower them to draw upon their strengths to find a way forward that works for them. I provide a safe environment for my clients to explore their thoughts and feelings, express themselves without fear of shame or judgement and find creative ways to move through their challenges.
I am particularly interested in helping folks who are experiencing grief or loss. This might include bereavement, but also includes challenges such as the end of a relationship, the loss of a job, pregnancy loss, loss of status, and the grief that often accompanies life's transitional periods. My goal is to help my client to feel heard and validated, and find a meaningful way to honour their grief and move through the experience of loss. It's not about "getting over" a loss or forgetting what's happened, it's about finding a way to recognise it and integrate it moving forward.
I can assist with a range of other issues including stress management, feelings of overwhelm, interpersonal issues, self-esteem, goal-setting, behaviour change and emotional issues.
I am a proud member of the LGBTQIA+ community, and offer sex-positive therapy that is supportive of non-traditional relationship structures.
