I believe my role as a therapist is to create a space where you feel supported, safe, and validated as we navigate challenges together. I think that everyone can benefit from therapy– whether it’s short-term to help you through a life transition or longer-term support, I will be here to affirm and accept you as you are.
I have experience with a wide variety of clients, including working with clients who have been through trauma, are exploring their sexuality and/or gender identity, experiencing grief or loss, working through relationship challenges, navigating changes in their bodies or desire, reshaping their relationship with their body and how they experience pleasure, and much more. As a long-time kink and sexuality educator, I am passionate about working with the BDSM community in an open and affirming manner. I have been teaching nationally both in and out of the community for over a decade, and aim to open discussions about mental health within kink spaces as well as depathologizing BDSM for non-kink professionals. Many people who are members of the LGBTQ+, kink, or polyam communities can feel stigmatized during therapy, and I aim to provide a non-judgmental atmosphere for people of all kinds of relationships and identities.
In therapy, we can explore the different ways your past experiences may impact your life, how cultural narratives have been absorbed, find agency to deconstruct the scripts that you no longer want to follow, ways to grow and develop new skills, and effective ways to communicate and deepen your relationships. We can work together to navigate sexual challenges, compatibility with partners, personal exploration, and much more. I am constantly exploring and expanding my knowledge so I can continue to be the best support system for you.
On a personal note, some of my loves are my cat (her name is Rosalind and she will come visit during sessions), art and being creative, Shakespeare and theatre (that’s what my undergrad degree is in), literature, and travel. I am also a science nerd and self-proclaimed methodology queen who loves digging through research– I am always happy to recommend an article or book, I’m usually in the middle of reading about five of them!
I look forward to talking with you about your needs from therapy and helping to support you to find the right path forward!
