I work with both individuals and intimate partners – including polyamorous relationships – where the primary concern is a sexual function or relationship issue.
Common reasons for attending psychosexual therapy include unreliable erections, premature or delayed ejaculation, painful intercourse, difficulty achieving orgasm or loss of desire. Relationship issues that I can help with include desire discrepancy, conflict, communication difficulties and discernment. Perhaps there has been an affair, one partner feels betrayed, or you would like to explore a specific sexual interest such as a kink or fetish, or navigate opening up a previously monogamous relationship. However you do not have to be experiencing any specific difficulty to benefit from therapy – it can also provide a safe space to explore your sexuality and become more comfortable in your own body without shame or judgement around how you feel and what you enjoy.
My therapeutic approach is progressive, relaxed and client-led – there is a thorough initial assessment which takes 1-2 sessions, where I ask questions and hold space for you to talk about the issue and how it affects you. We’ll collaborate on a treatment plan – working at your pace, focusing on the things that matter to you. My fairly informal style tends to lend itself to those who are new to therapy, who may feel apprehensive about attending or discussing intimate and personal details about themselves or the relationship, and those who have previously felt excluded from accessing therapy due to cost or because they have not found anyone who reflects their own working-class background or culture. I believe therapy should be accessible to all and offer session prices on a sliding scale for those who meet certain criteria, including students, NHS/emergency services workers and individuals on a low income. I am able to undertake coaching work with clients worldwide, and therapeutic work everywhere excluding the US and Canada.
As well as my psychosexual therapy qualification, I also hold an MSc in Psychology and a BSc in Nursing, with almost 10yrs experience working in triage, surgery, gynaecology and urological nursing, as well as in contraception and sexual health. This makes me well positioned to help clients where sexual or relationship difficulties may be compounded by medical complexity, or who are interested in learning more about their body. I also identify as part of the LGBTQIA+, kink and polyamorous communities and have lived experience in a D/s dynamic and mono/poly relationships.
