My name is Liz Decasse, pronouns: they/them, and I’m an independently licensed mental health counselor with a Master’s in Expressive Arts Therapies from Lesley University. Over my decade of working as a therapist, I’ve worked with clients of all ages in a variety of different settings on issues such as depression, anxiety, trauma, executive dysfunction, self-esteem, and adjusting to life stressors. Currently, I work primarily with adolescents and adults, and exclusively offer telehealth services. I especially enjoy working with those who have often found themselves on the outside of “traditional” societal norms: folks with autism and/or ADHD, the LGBTQ+ community, polyamorous and other ethically non-monogamous people, and kink-identified clients.
I try to offer a holistic approach to therapy and often use humor, art, and writing in sessions. I value bringing my authentic self to sessions and encourage my clients to do the same. I practice from a person-centered and strengths-based lens. I support many of my clients with things like learning about boundaries and self-advocacy, coping with stress, exploring their patterns and ways to break away from what is no longer helping them, and finding creative ways to address their own individual needs. What works for one person may not work for you - that is completely normal, and we can work together to see what fits!
I place a lot of emphasis on ensuring my clients feel heard and validated, while building the rapport over time to also be able to call out unhealthy patterns and challenge negative self-talk. I also offer education to help my clients learn about why their brains may work the way they do because, more often than not, your brain is doing exactly what it was designed to do from an evolutionary standpoint - however frustrating it might be! I pull from many different modalities such as CBT, DBT, and so on, but ultimately work to meet you where you’re at and see what works for you.
Change can be scary, and it can be really challenging to step out of your comfort zone. But if you think you might be ready to start your healing journey, you aren’t alone. Contact me today by clicking on my website!
