I’m a licensed mental health counselor and registered drama therapist. I currently provide virtual LGBTQIA- and neurodivergent-affirming somatic and expressive arts therapy for people navigating anxiety & perfectionism, relationship concerns, grief, change, loss, or transition of any kind, and trauma recovery. I love supporting artists, activists, organizers, and other changemakers and creatives, as well as those who are polyamorous, sex workers, and/or in the kink community. At the end of the day, I aim for our work to be in support of your liberation, on your terms.
I've worked in the social work/ mental health field in various settings since around 2009, and before that I worked in the theatre industry. I am a professionally trained expressive arts therapist, certified domestic violence and sexual assault counselor, 200-hour trained yoga instructor, and an advanced student in the Somatic Experiencing® method.
I aim to approach the therapist role as less of an “expert” and more of a capable emotional doula, accompanying you in your process of growth. Some keywords I’d use to describe my style are collaborative, relational, and creative. Past clients have described my style as authentic, warm, playful, and nonjudgmental.
Some approaches that guide my work are:
-
intersectional feminist values (including ongoing personal learning in anticapitalist, abolitionist, and decolonial frameworks)
-
liberation psychology
-
embodied & somatic healing approaches, including ancestor work
-
polyvagal theory & the neurobiology of trauma
-
IFS parts work, including inner child work
-
Anti-colonial relational values
-
The Adult Children of Alcoholics/ Dysfunctional Families (ACOA) tradition
-
Fat-positive and body liberation values
-
Sex-positive, kink-positive, polyam-positive, and pro-sex-worker values
