Talis (they/them), founder of BEYOND TABOO LLC, is a “neuro-spicy” (Autism/ADHD) and disabled veteran. They earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Psychology in 2021 and possess over a decade of experience in alternative sexuality and the kink community, with an emphasis on healing trauma through responsible practice of BDSM and trauma play modalities. Talis brings a wealth of knowledge, commitment to continuous learning, and passion to their work while operating under the KECC Collective Code of Conduct for Educators. Beyond Taboo LLC/Talis are listed as a Kink Aware Professional (KAP) among other mental health providers in the National Coalition for Sexual Freedom’s (NCSF) online directory as a trusted resource and are in the process of securing their NCSF Coalition Partner position.
While offering consulting, mentorship, and concierge services, Talis is also currently a Sex Coach/Clinical Sexologist In Training (SCIT) under Dr. Patti Britton’s method at the highlu regarded SexCoachU as well as an aspiring PhD in Clinical Sexology. They are also actively involved in the kink community as an educator and educator/resource coordinator for the Hampton Roads, VA area. Talis has recently started to expand to other platforms and has been a guest on the Kinky Tavern Podcast with several more appearances on others coming up.
Talis is always seeking continuous learning and utilizes a holistic approach to being an educator. They are currently a volunteer and research blog writer for TASHRA under Dr. Richard Sprott, a pioneer of the research community responsible for destigmatizing kink and educating about its psychological benefits.
Talis is also mentoring under internationally recognized clinical sexologist and shaman, Francesca Gentille.
They have recently begun a journey into learning the leather lifestyle, practices, and history by joining the Virginia Leather Women United whose aim is to revive and preserve women’s leather traditions.
Talis' passions revolve around advocating for neurodiversity acceptance and education, supporting fellow disabled veterans, and contributing to the kink community, locally and nationally, through education and connections. They are also dedicated to mentoring newcomers into the kink lifestyle by providing them with a rigorous, structured process aimed at integrating them into the community as knowledgeable and safe leaders and change-makers.
